I Love This Card

There is just something about this card that I love. I think it is how elegant it is and yet so simple!
The card has been embossed with the Elegant Lines embossing folder, on white cardstock.
The window was punched out with the curly label punch and the piece was layered on the inside of the card.
The stamp set is from the Sale A Bration catalogue (free with a $60 order).It is called Elementary Elegance.
The image was stamped in Lucky Limeade (2011 - 2013 In Color).

Take It To Heart Make and Take

Hi everyone. So the other night when I got together with some fellow demos, I surprised them with a make and take. I thought it would be great to create a card that they could put on their display boards (or even give to someone if they wanted too). This is the card we made. It was rather involved. The card is based on real read. Then a layer of white run through the polka dot embossing folder and big shot. Then we took another piece of white and using the new doily sizzlet (available now in the occasion mini) ran that through the big shot. This is where the work came in. The gals had to push out all the little pieces. It was a fair bit of work. We embossed the silhouette and cut it out using the new Heart Framelits - love it! There is a trick to using them that I will share soon. The tiny red hearts are also a new item from the mini catalogue. They are "Fashionable Hearts" embossilt. I love this! The hearts are adorable and really add to a card. We finished the card off with one of the game spinner pieces and a bow.

I often get compliments on my bows so I decided to share with the girls my secret! About a year ago I created my own bow maker. Now I can make fabulous bows with ease. Check out the details on my "Bows Made Easy" page. I sell them for $9.95 plus the cost of shipping.

Tomorrow night I am getting together with 3 other demonstrators to exchange ideas & share tips. We started this mini meeting a few months back to fill a gap. We were feeling like there wasn't really anything available to us so we band together to do the things that we felt were missing from other training sessions. It has been great. We share tons of samples and have actually done some stamping together as well. - I know!! What a concept! This month we are doing a swap. This is the card that I have put together for my peeps. I can't wait to see what they come up with. What do you think? This card features the Fresh Vintage stamp set from the Occasion Mini, heart framelits, Twitterpatted DSP and Pool Party seam binding. To color the stamp I used ink pads (Lucky Limeade, Pool Party, Melon Mambo & Pacific Point), a blender pen and sponge daubers. Love, love, love how they turned out. The cool thing is that each is a bit different as it depends on how you apply the ink to the stamp.

A Taste of Elegance

The "Happy Birthday" card features the "Fresh Vintage" stamp set (SAB), Pool Party seam binding (available in the new occasion mini) & Everyday Enchantment brads (SAB).

I love the simplicity of this "Let's Celebrate" card that I designed. It uses the Fresh Vintage stamp set (SAB) stamped in crumb cake. The Everyday Enchantment DSP has been layered onto a piece of Pool Party card stock that I punch with the scallop trim border punch. Topped it off with a double bow made with Pool Party seam binding and Pool Party bakers twine (occasion mini). Nothing is complete with out a couple of pearls.

This last card also uses the Fresh Vintage stamp set. The ink colors are calypso coral, pool party and lucky limeade. It is hard to see the greeting from my photo but is says "Happy Birthday" (stamp with pool party). The ribbon is from the Everyday Enchantment Ribbon & Brad pack (SAB). I tied the 2 colors together, curled them using the edge of my scissors and the topped it off with a pearl. What do you think of my creations?

Yesterday I held my annual Christmas tag class. We made 14 tags - 12 gift and 2 wine bottle tags. Here is one of the tags that we made. The glitter paper really adds the finishing touch. The top opens up to a 2nd layer of red cardstock, where you can write a special message.

Welcome Christmas Embossed Kissing Technique

Here is one of the cards that my Technique Clubs will be doing this month. It is called Embossed Kissing. If you click on the picture you will notice that the silohouette has another image over top. It is a really cool way to add extra dimension to your stamped images. The designer paper is Mocha Morning and of course the card is not complete without a little bling - champange glass glitter. Welcome Christmas Medallion

I think one of my favorite background stamps is the Medallion. It is so versatile. This is one of the cards that my Christmas Card Club members are making this month.
I stamped the Medallion in Cherry Cobbler and the family silhouette (Welcome Christmas) in black. I punched out the silhouette with the 1 3/4" circle punch and laid it in the center of the medallion. Topped it off with a rhinestone jewel and the Merry Christmas greeting. Super simple yet beautiful!

A couple of weeks ago I ran a booth at the Ottawa Wedding Show. It was so much fun meeting all kinds of brides-to-be. The excitment filled the air. I remember just how excited I was planning my wedding. Sadly Stampin' Up! was not in Canada at the time and I made my own invitations on the computer. As nice as they were they would have been nicer with tools like the Big Shot, embossing powder and heat tool and beautiful colors and stamp sets.

October Technique Club Project

This month I am teaching my technique clubs how to create beautiful cards like the one you see here. I love how this card turned out. It uses the stamp sets Natures Pace & En Francais, sponges and several inks. I also used the new SU Simply Scored tool (love it!!!) to create the lines in the background. The focal point is the new embossing folder frame which I cut out by hand (yes they need a punch for this - lol). This is one of those cards you want to take your time making and enjoy the process. I recently purchased the Contempo Christmas stamp set and Contempo wheel for a stamp a stack card class that I will be holding in December. While surfing I cam across some wonderful ideas including these scrapbook pages by Joann Pullen, a demonstrator here in Ottawa (she is fabulous!). Inspired by the examples I saw across the internet, I decided to hold a scrapbook class on Oct. 26th, featuring Contempo Christmas & Contempo wheel. At this class, you will make a double 12 x 12 page layout that you can then use to capture your 2011 Christmas memories. The page will incoporate both the stamp set and wheel, the Big Shot and beautiful Stampin' Up! accessories (ribbons, punches etc.).

Fancy Fold Card

I love different folding cards. This zig zag card gives your card a really cool look. The cardstock is the new hostess designer paper (including the butterflies) and the medallion greeting is from the hostess stamp set "Happiest Birthday Wishes".

Telescoping Bear Card

A friend of mine will be celebrating her grand daughters 1st birthday and I thought I would send her this card I made. It is a fancy fold card that I saw on the web called a telescoping card. Simply Soft (122565 - wood / 122567 - clear) is a gorgeous hostess stamp set from the new hostess plan in the 2011 - 2012 catalogue. Here you see some of the new in colors as well (Wisteria Wonder {122936} & Lucky Limeade {122935}). I have layered the card using Flirtatious Specialty (122360) designer paper & finished it off with a strip of the Lucky Limeade and Tasteful Trim XL Sizzix die (120893). I wanted to add one of the new polka dot brads but they haven't arrived yet.

Sneak Peak 4 - Delicate Doilies

This could be a wedding card, anniversary or birthday card. Not sure what I had in mind when I created it other that I wanted to emboss white doilies on vanilla cardstock (click the image to view larger). I have used a new set coming in July called Delicate Doilies as the background and the label background. I really like the way this turned out. The greeting was embossed in gold. I finished the card off with a double bow that I made using my bow maker.

I made this card for my downline swap that we are doing at our next team meeting. We decided to choose a product from the summer mini so I chose "The Open Sea" (item code 123030 - wood / 123032 - clear).
I am not a sailor but I absolutely love this stamp set! There is just something about it that makes it so versitile for cards and scrapbooks.

Last night I held my monthly stamper's summer club. We are meeting the 3rd Friday of each month and stamping up a storm. At last nights club we made 2 cards. This was one of them. We put the Big Shot to good use. If I am not mistaken we used it 4 times to create the textures on this wedding/anniversary card! Included in the Big Shot use were

Movers & Shapers - Heart (base of groom),
Heart of Heart embosslit (Bride base),
Manhatten embossing folder (2nd layer of bride) and
the lattice embossing folder (black card layer).

I also introduced my "Fa-BOW-lous" bow maker to make the bride's bow. The ladies were amazed at how easy it was to make such a perfect bow! What do you think?

I love getting together with my downline - TwINKle Belles. We have such a great time chatting and catching up. There is lots of ideas shared and make and takes created. This is one of the cards that we made at my meeting yesterday. I love the way the the new Paisley Print designer paper looks like it has been woven into the card. We embossed the DSP with the lattice sizzix die right onto the card - isn't that cool?
This month was our quarterly meeting. It is a special occasion as I recognized the TwINKle Belles that have achieved special milestones in their business. Each recipient (there were 3 this month) recieves a Simply Adorn bracelet the first time they get the award along with a special charm from me. I love seeing the excitment & surprise looks on their faces!

It's been far too long since I used this adorable Just Buzzing By stamp set. This is another club project that features different folds. I love the way these folds create dimension. It really makes the card come to life.

Sympathy Card - Brayered Lake Sunset

I was asked to make a sympathy card for a friend and here is what I came up with. I saw this design on Patty Bennett's blog. So, using the brayer (my new best friend.... why did I take so long to use this awesome tool??) I created the sunset with So Saffron, More Mustard & Cajun Craze.
The lake is Baja Breeze and Not Quite Navy. Waves and the edges of the blades of grass were created with a white gel pen.

I love how this turned out. The cool thing about the brayer is that you never know what the end result will look like. This card uses So Saffron, More Mustard, Cajun Craze, Old Olive & Early Espresso inks.

Mastering the Brayer

The brayer is one of those tools that has been gathering dust in my craft room for years! The key is patience and practice. I know that those coming to this class will learn to love the brayer.

The Brayer is one of those tools that I bought and put away. Once in a while I take it out, look at it, blow the dust off and think... what the heck do I do with this? Sound familiar?

Well as it turns out, the Brayer is a really cool tool! It can be used in several different ways and depending on the cardstock you use (glossy cardstock versus regular cardstock) will yield different results.

Whether you own a brayer or not you should attend this class because you will learn some techniques that will create amazing results!!

For this class please bring scissors, adhesive and the Brayer (if you have one).

Playing with My Digital Studio

It's been a while since I played around with the software. I was looking for some design ideas but didn't want to have to cut cardstock, so I created the design in My Digital Studio. I forgot how easy it is to use. These 2 pages took less that 45 minutes to create.
Now I will use this layout to make my pages. Or maybe I will cop out and just print these pages. This program truly makes scrapbooking a breeze!

Inlaid Embossing

This is a really cool and easy technique. All you need is a Big Shot, some paper and an embossing folder.
The trick is to adhere your pieces (example the hearts) first and then run it through the embossing folder. Presto the hearts are embedded right into your cardstock.
I taught this thecnique to my clubs - we made the heart card.

I absolutely love this card, it's too bad I actually have to send it to someone because that means a very sad time for someone. The card uses the stamp set Thoughts & Prayers. The color scheme is Baja Breeze, Always Artichoke & Early Espresso.
