There’s something truly magical about a quiet Christmas night—a deep, dark
sky filled with twinkling stars, snow-covered hills and that peaceful feeling that comes when the world seems to slow down. 🌙✨
That was the inspiration behind this Christmas card featuring the Holly Jolly Branches Bundle.
Rather than creating a traditional bright and colourful Christmas scene, I wanted this card to feel like you’re looking out into a snowy landscape on a crisp winter evening.
A Christmas Scene After Dark
The dark background creates the perfect setting for this nighttime Christmas scene. The contrast between the deep night sky and the white snowy landscape makes the card feel almost like a little winter story.
And then come the stars! ⭐
I used a white gel pen to add the tiny stars scattered across the night sky. I love how something as simple as a white gel pen can completely transform a dark cardstock background.
The little dots of white give the impression of a clear, star-filled Christmas night—and because each star is individually added, the placement can be completely organic and whimsical.
Creating the Snowy Landscape
The snowy hills were created with a white gel pen, adding soft, snow-covered details to the landscape.
Rather than simply leaving the snow as a solid white shape, the pen details help bring the scene to life and give it that magical, hand-drawn quality.
I especially love the contrast between the dark sky and the bright white snow. It really makes the entire scene pop!
The Flourish & Frames Die-Cut Detail
The black die-cut element in the centre of the card might look like it has some special finishing technique—but there's no hot foiling on this card! 😉
I used the Flourish & Frames Dies to create this beautiful black detail.
The intricate die-cut design adds an elegant frame-like element to the centre of the card while still allowing the nighttime scene to remain the star of the show.
It's a great example of how a simple black die cut can add both structure and sophistication without competing with the stamped images.
Holly Jolly Branches
The Holly Jolly Branches Bundle brings the Christmas element to the scene with its beautiful winter greenery.
Against the nighttime background, the branches feel almost as though they're silhouetted against the snowy sky—perfect for the peaceful, wintry mood I wanted to create.
A Little Winter Magic
What I love most about this card is that it isn't just a Christmas card—it feels like a moment in time.

And just a touch of Christmas greenery.
✨ Sometimes the simplest details create the most magical cards.
The white gel pen stars and snowy landscape are definitely one of my favourite parts of this design. They add so much personality and make the scene feel handmade and whimsical.
And the Flourish & Frames die cut adds just the right amount of elegance to bring everything together.
