Christmas Frosted Pinecone Card

There’s something so beautiful about creating a Christmas card inspired by the peacefulness of a winter woodland. ❄️🌲 This Christmas Frosted Pinecone card combines layered ink blending with the Frosted Pinecone Masks to create a realistic, dimensional pinecone and evergreen image.

Creating the Frosted Pinecone Image

The star of this card is the layered pinecone image, created entirely with the Frosted Pinecone Masks. Rather than simply stamping an image, I used multiple layers of masks to gradually build the colour, depth and dimension.

I started with Pecan Pie as the foundation colour for the pinecone. A second layer of Pecan Pie added additional shading and depth, helping to define the individual sections of the pinecone.

Next came Early Espresso, which added those deeper, richer shadows and really brought the pinecone to life. The combination of the two browns gives the pinecone a wonderfully natural appearance.

For the evergreen branches, I used Peaceful Pine. The rich green works beautifully with the warm browns and gives the image that classic Christmas woodland feel.

Colours Used

  • Pecan Pie – the warm base and additional depth on the pinecone

  • Early Espresso – deeper shading and definition

  • Peaceful Pine – the evergreen branches

A Classic Christmas Colour Combination

I love how these colours work together. The combination of Pecan Pie, Early Espresso and Peaceful Pine creates a traditional Christmas palette without relying on bright reds and greens.

The layered masking technique also adds so much dimension. With each additional layer of ink, the pinecone becomes more detailed and realistic.

❄️ The finished result is a cozy winter woodland scene that feels right at home on a Christmas card!
