Kylie's International Blog Highlights - Feb. 2022

 

It's time for the next challenge in Kylie's International Blog Highlights where the theme is "Thank You", and projects voted in the top 10 go on to participate in Kylie's Winners Highlights Hop later in the month.

Today I am sharing with you a card that I designed using the Artfully Layered bundle. I was feeling particularly "springy" when I made this card. It is the dead of winter here in Ottawa, Canada and is FREEZING COLD!!  So I wanted to give myself a little boost and create a card that made me feel like I was on vacation - somewhere hot and sunny!

What better colors than Coastal Cabana and Polished Pink!  

1. I started with a base in Polished Pink cut at 8.5" x 5.5", folded in half and then layered a piece of white cardstock that I had embossed with the Painted Textured 3D embossing folder.
2. I die cut one piece using Coastal Cabana cardstock (fern) and another from Polished Pink (leaf). I then stamped the leaf image in Coastal Cabana ink and die cut it with the leaf die from the Tropical Layers dies.
3. I created a double bow using Polished Pink Open Weave ribbon and adhered it in the middle of the die cut pieces with a glue dot. 
4. The greeting was stamp in white craft ink on black cardstock and heat embossed with white embossing powder. I then fussy cut the sentiment and adhered it with black mini dimensionals.
5. I die cut 2 Polished Pink flowers (In the Tropics dies) and adhered them to the "fern" die cut piece. 
6. I then added 3 Loose Flower Flourishes - 2 over top of the die cut flowers from step 5.
7. The final touch was to color 3 pearls with a Light Bermuda Bay Blends marker (because we don't have Coastal Cabana in Stampin Blends - but amazingly the match is perfect!).

Crafty Color Challenge Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to For The Love of Stamping! Today's post is for a color challenge blog hop that features these colors - Coastal Cabana, Flirty Flamingo & Highland Heather.

It is the dead of winter here in Ottawa, Canada and I need a vacation!  Well not sure that is going to happen anytime soon so I will have to live vicariously through creating tropical cards. 

I am loving this color challenge! Don't these colors Coastal Cabana, Flirty Flamingo & Highland Heather go well together?

Here is how to create this card.

First you will need the following supplies

Stamps & Dies: Artfully Layered & Friendly Hello (SAB)

Cardstock: Highland Heather, Flirty Flamingo, Coastal Cabana, Basic White, Basic Black & Just Jade

Ink: Highland Heather, Flirty Flamingo, Highland Heather, White Craft, Memento

Misc:  Iridescent Rhinestones, Black Dimensionals, White EP, Highland Heather & Pool Party (dark) Stampin' Blends, die cutting machine, heat tool.

Steps:

1. Cut card base and fold in half.
2. Layer a piece of Basic White on top.
3. Die cut three of the inlay (leaf veins) - one in each color - Coastal Cabana, Flirty Flamingo & Highland Heather.
4. Die cut three of the leaf base layer in white and ink blend matching color over them (you do this on the reverse side of the die cut).
1. Adhere the inlay layer onto the base layer.
5. Die cut three Just Jade  branches.
6. Assemble the branches first on the card. Then adhere the leaf layers from 4.1 over top.
7. Stamp the flowers from Friendly Hello and color with Stampin' Blends.
8. Fussy cut and adhere to card with dimensionals.
9. Stamp & heat emboss sentiment with White ink and embossing powder. Fussy cut and adhere to card with black dimensionals.
10. Add Iridescent Rhinestones to the center of each flower.

Tropical Island Dreams of Retiring .... One Day

 One day I will retire (wishing it was sooner than later) and I will camp out under a palm tree on a tropical island.  I can't wait for that day but sadly it isn't in the near future (consequences of leaving a job after 15 years and then going back to the same company 7 years later and they don't bridge the previous 15 years of service 😢 ).

I do have to say that I love these new Palm Dies!  They come with a coordinating stamp set for a bundled savings called Paradise Palms bundle. Crafty Collaboration Valentine's Day Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to For The Love of Stamping. Today's post is for a Valentine's Day Blog Hop. My creation is a "Minimalist Card" where all I am using is red and white. I have created 2 versions. Here is the first one. 

  

I have chosen to use a new bundle from the Jan to June mini catalog called Love & Happiness with the coordinating Bouquet of Love Hybrid embossing folder.

1. I started with a white base and a white layer on top.  
2. Then I die cut 2 hearts (1 large white and 1 small red) from the Love and Happiness bundle
3. Emboss both with the Bouquet of Love Hybrid embossing folder
4. Adhere the white heart directly on the card front.
5. Die cut some small hearts using the Floral Heart dies - adhere 2 red and 1 white to the end of a floral wire.
6. Adhere over the white heart.
7. Punch 3 white boughs using the Bough punch and adhere with glue dots as shown in picture.
8. Adhere the red heart with dimensional over the floral wires.
9. Add 2 polished dots to the red heart.
10. Add a white heart (Floral Heart dies) to the red heart.
11. Adhere 3 small red hearts (Floral Heart dies) to the card front as shown in picture.
12. Using a red and black Stampin' Write marker ink up the sentiment, huff to remoisten the ink and stamp on white cardstock.
13. Die cut sentiment using the label die from Love & Happiness dies.
14. Adhere to card with a double layer of dimensionals.

And here is my second card. Sometimes 1 is not enough. I have used Meadow and Love You More Than dies in addition to the supplies listed above for this one. 

Which one do you like better? I couldn't decide.

Black Out Technique - Shaded Summer

 Hello and welcome to today's post on For The Love of Stamping. I created this card using a technique called "Black Out". I find it very striking and love the impact this card makes. This technique really isn't complicated but you will need some supplies to make this card.

Start with an 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" piece of Polished Pink cardstock and fold in half. Layer a piece of black on top of card front.

1. Adhere 2 strips of post-it tape on the diagonal across the white cardstock – leave about a 2” opening.
2. Starting from the right side, blend the ink onto the white layer (between the post-it tape) in the following order: Mango Melody, Granny Apple Green, Bermuda Bay, Gorgeous Grape and Magenta Madness.
1. Let the ink dry completely before stamping
3. Swipe the embossing buddy over the surface of the blended ink
1. Randomly stamp floral images using Shaded Summer stamp set, in Versamark and emboss with clear embossing powder. 
4. Blend Memento ink over the area between the post it tape with a blending brush – wipe as you go with a paper towel to pull the excess ink off the embossed images. 
5. Line up a sentiment in the Stamp-A-Ratus and stamp with Memento ink as shown in picture.
6. Adhere a few Iridescent rhinestones on the card front as shown above.

Artfully Layered - A New Technique - Black Light Technique

 Hello and welcome to For The Love of Stamping. My name is Tracie St-Louis and I am from Ottawa, Ontario Canada. I have been a Stampin' Up! demonstrator for 16 years! It's funny because when I first got my starter kit I never imagined still going strong after 16 years!  

I am feeling a bit dramatic today and thought I would put that feeling on paper (or should I say a card). I feel like I am a bit behind in my stamping posts but am happy to share this card that I designed. I think I have created a new technique and am calling it Black Light Technique. It uses a new stamp/die bundle called Artfully Layered. This bundle gives me all the feels for a sunny hot vacation with the ferns and palm-like leaves.  I am enjoying playing with it.  If I had to categorize this card I would put it in the intermediate to avid crafter category. 

Here are the list of supplies that I have used on this card.

• Gorgeous Grape, Basic Black & Shaded Spruce cardstock
• Stamp/die bundle - Artfully Layered
• Stitched Greenery die
• White craft ink and embossing powder
• Purple rhinestones
• Gorgeous Grape Sheer Ribbon

Steps

1. I started with a base in Gorgeous Grape (8.5" x 5.5" folded in half)
2. I embossed a layer of black cardstock with the Stitched Greenery die and adhered it to the card base.
3. I die cut 2 outline leaves and 2 of the leaf sprays from Tropical Layers dies.
1. Paper piece the green into the center of the purple outline piece and do the same with the purple into the outline of the green leaf.
4. Die cut 2 solids leaves from the Tropical Layers dies
1. Flip the solid leaves over and adhere the layers from step 3.1
5. Assemble all the leaves on the card as shown in the picture above.
6. Adhere purple rhinestones (retired Noble Peacock rhinestones) on the card as shown above.
7. Emboss sentiment on black cardstock with white ink and embossing powder.
1. Fussy cut and adhere with black dimensionals to card front
8. Tie a bow with the Gorgeous Grape sheer ribbon and adhere to card as shown above with a glue dot.

Kre8tors Blog Hop - Jan. 2022

Hello and welcome to For The Love of Stamping and the Kre8tors January 2022 Blog Hop. Our theme this month is to create anything we want with only current Stampin' Up! products.

So that being said, I have chosen to use the  Sale-A-Bration stamp set called Awesome Otters, which with a $60 net Stampin' Up! order, anyone can earn for free (SAB runs until the end of Feb. 2022). 

My design is geared towards the avid crafter. "Avid" doesn't necessarily mean that it is more difficult to make. It means that it takes more products than a beginner or casual crafter card requires. I have to admit, designing this card was a bit more time consuming than I thought (sometimes I fuss too much - yes I can be my own worst enemy - lol). 

So about the card. I knew that I wanted to show off the stamp set but I wanted to make it look like the otter was under water and just laying the stamped image on top of the Simply Marbleous designer series paper just wasn't "cutting the mustard" for me. 

So how did I achieve the "under water" effect? 

Let me share that with you. But first, here are the list of supplies you will need. Each is hyperlinked to my store to make it easier for you to purchase.

Cardstock, DSP, Ink & Stamps	Dies & EF	Embellishments / Tools
Awesome Otters  Peekaboo Farms Simply Marbleous  Basic White c/s Balmy Blue c/s Night of Navy c/s Window Sheets Memento Ink Supple Shimmer Paper	Stripes & Splatters 3D EF Smooth Sailing Dies Layering Diorama Dies	Faux Sea Glass Shapes Soft Suede Blends Daffodil Delight Blends

Instructions:

1. Cut the card base at 8.5" x  5.5" and fold in half to make a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card.
2. Cut a White layer @ 4 1/8" x 5 3/8". Adhere to card base.
3. Cut a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of Balmy Blue cardstock. 
1. Using the Layering Diorama dies (3rd largest), cut in the center of this layer.
2. Then emboss with the Splatters EF.
4. Using the same size of Layering Diorama die from step 3, cut 1 more from Simply Marbleous DSP.
1. Using the same piece of DSP die cut a "frame" using the next size (2nd largest) of the dies. Just lay the die over the opening you created when you cut the layer in step 4.
5. Adhere the blue Simply Marbleous die cut on the white layer of the card front. 
1. To ensure you have it lined up properly, place the Balmy Blue layer from step 2 on the card front first and place the Simply Marbleous layer  inside the opening of the Balmy Blue layer. 
2. Adhere the frame from step 4.1 around the opening of the Balmy Blue layer - set aside for now. We will attach this to the card front later.
6. Using the Layering Diorama dies from step 3, cut 1 window sheet  and emboss with the Splatter 3D EF. Set aside for now.
7. Die cut 2 Supple Shimmer (blue) and 1 Simply Marbleous (Bumble Bee) sea plants (Smooth Sailing dies).
1. Adhere one of the Supple Shimmer to the Bumble Bee layer (off-set) and then adhere to the left side of the blue Simply Marbleous layer (on the card front).
8. Adhere the Balmy Blue (top) layer (from step 5.2) to the card base.
9. Stamp the otter and color with Stampin' Blends (Soft Suede and Daffodil Delight).
1. Fussy cut the otter and adhere as shown in picture.
10. Adhere the window sheet layer with glue dots to the opening, giving the illusion of under water.
11. Adhere the 2nd Supple Shimmer sea plant to the right side of the card as shown in picture. 
12. Stamp greeting on Bumble Bee Simply Marbleous DSP and die cut with the Layering Diorama dies (smallest die) - I have die cut the greeting twice to make the area around the greeting smaller.
1. Adhere with dimensionals as shown in picture.
13. Add the Faux Sea Glass shapes as shown in picture.

Amazing Silhouettes - Free Tutorial

Hello and welcome to For The Love of Stamping!  Are you new to card making and not sure where to start? Or are you in a "card maker block" - not sure where to begin? I know sometimes it can be overwhelming to get the juices flowing. Today I wanted to share a card this is quick and easy to make  that will wow  any recipient!  

Today I am playing with the new stamp/die bundle called Amazing Silhouettes.  It is a beautiful set that is easy to use and is (what I like to call) multipurpose. You can make birthday cards, thank you cards, sympathy cards and more with this one bundle. When investing in stamp bundles you want to get the most out of it that you can and this bundle delivers on that!

The images have a watermark halo around each of them that makes it appear  that you spent hours to create but in reality only takes a minute to stamp! I just love the beautiful results. This bundle is paired with some fantastic word dies .

Here is the card I am sharing with you today. This card was inspired by a fellow demonstrator.

To make this card you will need the following:

Cardstock, DSP & Ink Stamps	Dies & EF	Embellishments
Blushing Bride c/s # 131198 Smokey Slate c/s #131202 Basic White c/s #159229 Basic Black c/s #121045 Petal Pink Ink #147100	Tasteful Textile 3D EF #152718 Amazing Silhouette bundle # 157819 Meadow dies #  155852	Champagne Rhinestones #151193

Instructions:

Base:

1. Cut card base at 8 ½” x 5 ½” – fold in half 

Front:

1. Cut Smokey Slate cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼” 

2. Cut White cardstock at 3 7/8” x 5 3/8”

1. Stamp image in Blushing Bride in the center of the white layer

2. Emboss with Tasteful Texture 3D EF 

3. Adhere to Smokey Slate cardstock and then adhere these layers to the card base.

3. Die cut “Thanks” from black – trim off the “s” 

4. Die cut the shadow from Smokey Slate – trim off the area where the “s” would be. 

1. Adhere to the black “Thanks” to the shadow.

5. Die cut “you” and adhere as shown in picture

6. Add some champagne rhinestones to the card as shown as a finishing touch.

Crafty Collaborations Jan - June Mini Catalog Blog Hop

 Happy New Year and welcome to For The Love of Stamping. Today I am participating in a blog hop featuring products from the Jan - June 2022 Mini Catalog. 

I have chosen to use the On the Horizon bundle found on page 42-43 for my post today. 

I cased this card from the image found on page 42. Because I don't have the designer series paper, I created my own background and "water" using white cardstock, a blending brush and Misty Moonlight ink..
